Welcome to Gcmtechonologies free tutorial on website design using dreamweaver

Step1:

      Run the software. 

Step2:

Click on HTML 

The good thing about dreamweaver is that you can design and view the code automatically been generated by the software . you can click on design view

Step3:

Now will save this page as index.html before we continue the design. 

Click file

Save as

Go to your root folder; most time you create a folder in the www directory on ur local disk. This becomes very important when u want to create a data driven website .

Change untitle2 to index

Step 4:

After saving the file as index, Dats gonna be your home page . blank page. We are going to work with tables but it has its disadvantages. As we go on wit dis tutorial I will show u d best and most flexible way to layout ur website contents.

This is the sketch of our intended layout .

To achieve that format above .

Step5:

Go to insert, insert table. For the row and column make it 3 by 3 .

Expand the table.

Highlight the top row and left click ,u shld see merge table. So merge the top row to have 1column.

Something like the above. Then do same for the bottom row. Hightlight and merge the table

U will observe that d bottom row has been merged

And on the top row-banner, I inserted a image there.

The others as seen above can be tried out.

Using table for website plan layout is not usually flexible.

  

The use of table comes in hand whr u want a particular content to remain the way it is no matter d browser or screen size.
